April 23rd

Dear Weymouth Club Community,
We hope you are as excited for us to re-open as we are to see you back here again! Although we do not have an official date, our team has been busy planning for your return.
A quick review to keep you aware of developments since our shutdown:
  • Virtual options launched. We have developed and started virtual group exercise classes. We also started a virtual personal training service that can accommodate your schedule. Our dance school has also started a virtual class schedule for its students. Lastly, we continue to offer nutritional counseling services via telehealth that have the possibility of being fully covered by your health insurance. If interested, we can check the coverage for you.
  • Completely sanitized club from top to bottom. You know how seriously we took cleaning prior to Covid-19. Get ready to experience a new standard of meticulous sanitation. We cannot thank our outstanding housekeeping crew enough for the countless hours they have dedicated to this already. We will also be upgrading all of our HVAC filters to hospital grade HEPA filters.
  • Social distancing prepared to be observed in the club. We have shifted equipment in the fitness center, added taped arrows at the front desk floor to keep people spaced appropriately, and added directional signage throughout the club to control traffic flow and prevent people from bumping into each other.
  • Added sanitation stations for yourself and for equipment. We want to make it as easy as possible for sanitation to occur.
  • We have applied for our annual summer camp licenses and anxiously await guidelines for how to keep your kiddos safe, learning, and active this summer in our TFA, TA, and EC camps.
  • Outdoor area for fitness has been expanded and will be open for use immediately upon re-opening.
  • Preparation for phase 1 opening. When it comes to re-opening, we have connected with clubs across the country and globe, some of which have already been through Covid-19 and have resumed operations. Our team’s work and efforts are with you in mind: to keep you and your loved ones safe, healthy, and exercising for many years to come.
Important information regarding a Phase 1 opening:
  • There’s great news that health clubs are in the phase 1 opening of the federal government guidelines.
  • It is important to note, however, that it’s the state and local government guidelines that we’ll operate from. Although we have not received these guidelines yet, we are preparing and working with our local officials to be ready for implementation.
  • As you may be aware, there needs to be a 14-day downward trajectory of specific Covid-19 statistics in order for a state to consider a phase 1 opening. You can follow some of the Massachusetts statics here.
  • We are using and will continue to use government approved sanitation products throughout the club.
We will continue to educate ourselves on the best ways to keep you safe as we re-open the club and help you resume your favorite activities. Once we get clear, final directives from our state and local officials, we’ll distribute extensive details that will help in preparation for your return. With everyone’s combined efforts, we will stay “Healthy Together.”
Yours in eager anticipation of re-opening,
Weymouth Club Management

Dear Weymouth Club Community,

Closing Weymouth Club was not an easy choice but it was the right thing to do. We now enter uncharted waters with no timeline to the world recovery, but as Americans we will win the battle. It’s times like these that we are reminded of how strong our community is. We couldn’t be more grateful for each and every one of you that makes up our Weymouth Club family. The outpouring of support, concern for our staff, and praise of the decision we made has been truly tremendous.

This week, a small team of our employees worked behind the scenes to ensure the club will be spotless for your return, produced at-home workouts and nutrition tips, participated in leadership training, and worked on ways to make the club even better when we re-open. Everything we do is for you: to provide you with the best location on the South Shore to meet your health goals, whether they be physical, social, or educational.

For Weymouth Club that has been Sally and my life’s work, we are thinking and planning for what is important. First and foremost, how we can keep our members active, healthy, and engaged during this period when access to the club is unavailable. Secondly, how we can financially help take care of our exceptional staff who make the club that special place for all of you as well as meet our financial obligations to our deserving vendors. And lastly, what will it take to reopen Weymouth Club and use this opportunity to bring the club to new levels.

As we have done over the past week, we will continue to stay in touch with other top clubs in our industry, trade associates, and local health authorities to make the best decisions for our club community. We hope to be in touch soon regarding our schedule of reopening. Please see below to review a series of Q&A we thought would be helpful to you.

In closing, Sally and I and the entire Weymouth Club staff wish you and your families, friends, and surrounding communities a speedy recovery in each and every way. We thank you for your past and future support.

As always to your health,
Steve and Sally

  • What’s happening with my membership dues?
    • We will credit your dues for the time we were closed once we reopen. If the club does not open on April 1, your dues will NOT be processed on April 1.
  • Did the club close because of a report of someone being infected?
    • Closing the club was entirely a proactive measure. We wanted to be a leader in the community and encourage other businesses to make choices to keep everyone safe. This was in no way a mandated closure and we are not aware of any of our members or staff having the virus.
  • How is the staff doing? What are we doing with our staff?
    • The amount of outreach with concern for our team members has been tremendous. This is a difficult time for all aspects of our community. For all of our team members, we have been researching state and federal legislation being proposed amid the pandemic and sharing impacts. We have also provided information on how to file for unemployment benefits. This week, a team worked behind the scenes to ensure the club will be spotless for your return, produced at-home workouts and nutrition tips, participated in leadership training, and worked on ideas to make the club even better when we re-open. Next week a smaller crew will remain.
  • What if a program is re-scheduled for a time frame that doesn’t work for me?
    • Should this happen, you will receive a credit toward a future service. We are committed to re-scheduling in the best way possible so you can continue with your programs at the club without interruption.
  • What cleaning is being done? Other projects?
    • As I’m sure you would expect, we are ferociously cleaning every inch of the club. The whole fitness center is being deep cleaned from top to bottom including pulling out cardio equipment/machines and cleaning underneath. We are completing a deep clean of our locker rooms, Energy Center, tennis courts, aquatic center, and lobby areas, even cleaning walls.
  • When will you re-open?
    • This is the “million dollar question.” We are monitoring this very fluid situation and will adhere to all recommendations by public health officials as well as the town, state, and federal authorities. While we are still striving to re-open April 1, like everyone, we simply do not know what the future holds and how long before the occurrences of the virus will begin to flatten and decline. Our goal remains to safeguard the health of our members and staff.
  • How can I stay involved? Are you producing any at-home workouts?
    • Yes! Please tune into our Facebook and Instagram pages for workouts from Weymouth Club trainers, nutrition tips, kid’s activities, and general engagement with the Weymouth Club community. Our goal is to send you a schedule of live classes early next week.
  • Where can I find updates?

March 15, 2020

We thank you for your patience as we assess the current health situation in our region. In response to COVID-19 and with the goal of ensuring health for our community, Weymouth Club has made the difficult decision to temporarily close, effective 6pm Sunday, March 15th. We anticipate this closure will last through Tuesday, March 31st with a hopeful re-open date of Wednesday, April 1.

Even though we passionately believe that exercise and good nutrition offer the best protection against this virus and a great many illnesses, both chronic and acute, we are taking this measure as we believe it is the socially responsible thing to do. We did not make this decision lightly and recognize the inconvenience it will cause our valued members and program participants. However, our overarching concern is the health of our community.

Weymouth Club will continue to monitor the situation and follow the recommendations of city, state, and federal health professionals with the hope of reopening as soon as possible. Rest assured, you will not be billed for any time that the club is closed.

We understand that you will have many questions. Please know, our first priority will be to ensure our employees are taken care of. We will respond to your questions as soon as possible. Below please find an FAQ section where we’ve done our best to anticipate your concerns.

Please be well, take all precautions for yourself and your families and know that we are here for you no matter what the situation. We are a Weymouth Club family and will remain vigilant together.
