Performing
Overview
Dance with Energy’s Dance Company gives our most passionate dancers the opportunity to develop their skills and experience dance more deeply than through recreational classes alone. Participants enjoy all styles of dance and are committed to more intense weekly training. Here’s how they work:
- Performances: Companies perform in our annual Nutcracker & spring recital and compete in 3-4 competitions. Group outings related to performing arts are also planned.
- Classes:Company members train for 2 to 10 hours per week during our full season. In addition, our Mini, Junior, teen, and Sr Companies take class throughout the summer and take part in a mandatory choreography week in July or August. Training involves safe stretching, proper technique, developing performance skills and choreography.
- Solo, duet, trios, and small groups: Company members also have the opportunity to perform a solo, duet or trio during the competition season. Dancers are also selected for additional small group competitive opportunities during auditions.
- Tuition and fees: Company class tuition is based on the number of hours dancers are in class. Additional costs apply for costumes, conventions, competitions, private lessons and outings. Fundraising is available through a parent committee.
- Auditions:Company dancers are selected based on informal auditions held in May. These auditions are designed to be low-key and low stress, especially for our youngest dancers.
