Swim Lesson Overview
Waves Swim School at Weymouth Club develops children into strong, skilled, confident swimmers. Here’s what differentiates our program from others:
- Highly experienced instructors make lessons fun, informative, and safe.
- Toddler and School-Aged classes have a ratio of 1 certified instructor to 4 children, ensuring every swimmer receives close attention.
- We believe in continuous goal-setting. Each child receives a pool side evaluation at the end of their lessons to talk about their accomplishments and skills to keep working on. It’s a great way to keep young swimmers motivated and pushing forward.

Splash Lessons (Age 3—5 years)
Our Splash classes are weekly 30 minute lessons without a parent. We maintain a 4:1 ratio. You can join us at anytime, no need to wait for the next session to enroll or be promoted. Please call the office to see what would be the best level for our child.
Splash 1 is for children new to swim lessons or those who may be fearful of the water. Children will learn to be participate in class safely, mastering how to get in and out of the water independently, wait for their turn, learn to go under water and float and swim with support on their front and back.
Splash 2 for children who are comfortable going under water and are beginning to paddle out to the teacher will work on gaining independence of the basic skills such as floating gliding and swimming on their front and back.
Splash 3 children will work on the propulsion phase of freestyle, the pull. They will continue mastering the rollover, back float comfort, and strong kicking.
Splash 4 We’re putting together the full freestyle stroke by adding in the side breath. Backstroke is a natural progression at this time. Safety skills, like treading water, and comfort in deep water are critical skills. Promotion from Splash 4 is between 5 1/2 yrs old but no later than 6 yrs old.
Junior Waves Lessons (Ages 5.5 and older)
Our Youth classes are 30 minute classes meeting weekly. We maintain a 4:1 ratio. You can join us at anytime, no need to wait for the next session to enroll or be promoted.
- Level 1 is for children new to swim lessons or those who may be fearful of the water. Children will learn to to go under water and float and swim with support on their front and back.
- Level 2 for children who are comfortable going under water and are now able to build the basic skills of swimming freestyle with a rollover breath, back stroke and elementary back stroke as well as learn to tread water in deeper water. They will be introduce to the sitting dive.
- Level 3 children will to shorten the rollover breath in freestyle and be introduced to the side breath, they will back stroke independently and be introduce to dolphin and breast stroke kick as well as diving. They will be able to tread water in the deep end for 30 seconds by the end of this level. They will be introduced to the kneeling dive.
- Level 4 children begin to swim a greater distance building endurance that is key to swimming safely. Children will be working on all four strokes, freestyle, back stroke, breast stroke and butterfly. Mastering the side breath is a major focus for this level. Children will be brought to the deep end to tread water for 45 seconds and be introduced to the standing dive.
- Level 5 the goal of level 5 is to build off the strokes learned in level 4 while swimming technically accurate and efficient. Swimming the 55 foot width of the pool with multiple laps of each stroke. Beginner competitive techniques will be introduced such as freestyle flip turns.
- Level 6 once the techniques are mastered in level 5 we can really work the distance and endurance of all four competitive strokes, including a 5 minute continuous swim. It will also build the competitive foundation for those that are interested to swim as their sport, learning the individual medley, backstroke and breast stroke turns. Once a month we will also go over to the lap pool to learn starts from the block.
