Performing Companies
For committed dancers who relish performing in front of a crowd, our performing companies are the place to shine.
Overview
Dance with Energy’s Dance Company gives our most passionate dancers the opportunity to develop their skills and experience dance more deeply than through recreational classes alone. Participants enjoy all styles of dance and are committed to more intense weekly training. Here’s how they work:
- Performances: Companies perform at community events (such as parades, fairs and festivals), the Dance with Energy holiday show & spring recital, and compete in 2-4 competitions. Group outings related to performing arts are also planned.
- Classes: Company members train for 2 to 10 hours per week in the summer and fall. In addition, our Mini, Junior, Apprentice, and Sr Companies take class throughout the summer and take part in a mandatory choreography week in July or August. Our Acro Company & Hip Hop Company also takes a weekly summer class. Training involves safe stretching, proper technique, developing performance skills and choreography.
- Tuition and fees: Company class tuition is based on the number of hours dancers are in class. Additional costs apply for costumes, conventions, competitions, private lessons and outings. Company members are required to purchase 4 costumes for the spring recital and could possibly have additional competition costumes. Fundraising is available through a parent committee.
- Auditions: Company dancers are selected based on informal auditions held in May. These auditions are designed to be low-key and low-stress, especially for our youngest dancers. For details on auditions, please contact Kathy Buccella kbuccella@weymouthclub.com or 781-682-5886.
